Public Invited to Help Improve the Napa Valley Expo

 Public Meeting to Review Preferred Master Plan Alternative

The 25th District Agricultural Association (DAA)/Napa Valley Expo (NVE) is preparing a 2017 Master Plan to guide future planning, decisions, financial priorities and overall management of the NVE.


The 2014 earthquake in Napa County damaged buildings at the NVE property, thus providing an opportunity to revisit priorities outlined in previous planning efforts completed in 2003. With the intervening years, 2015-2016 becomes the appropriate time to revisit the previous recommendations and to prepare a Master Plan, a road map or decision making tool, for the next 10-15 years. The Master Plan is intended to provide both “big picture” planning and practical management strategies that can guide day-to-day, decisions, operation and long-term implementation of the Expo’s Vision and Mission:


Mission Statement:  The Napa Valley Exposition is a vital part of the diverse Napa Valley community and showcases our agricultural heritage, provides a high quality entertainment venue, and cultivates recreational and educational opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages.


Vision Statement:  Napa County’s premier agricultural, recreational and community gathering place.


As part of the Master Plan process, we are: 1) assessing the existing conditions of the NVE, including the health and condition of existing trees, utilities and needs for IT infrastructure; 2) conducting meetings with the Board, stakeholders and the public regarding the use of the NVE; 3) preparing a market analysis and evaluating the financial feasibility of various programming alternatives; and 4) preparing a Master Plan that reflects the long-term goals and financial position of the 25th DAA and provides a vision that engages the public’s interest.


The community workshop – to be held in Zinfandel Hall at the Napa Valley Expo, 575 Third Street, Napa, CA at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, - will provide opportunities for the public to learn about the Master Plan process and to review the Preferred Master Plan Alternative with graphic displays and a presentation by the Study team. We will then have a facilitated discussion to gather information from those individuals with an interest in the site. We will relay input from the community back to the Board of Directors to inform decisions about the Master Plan.
